After hard work yesterday and today I’ve figured it out. The single level condition number (with respect to the H¹-norm of the wavelets on level 7 is 42. How could I ever have thought it not to be, since it’s The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything (and presumably also to the question “How many roads must a man walk down?”).
