Sapienti consilio a maioribus nostris institutum est, ut bonarum artium studiosi, anteaquam doctrinam suam ad communem vitae usum conferrent, laudabiliter peractis studiis academicis publicum peterent industriae et eruditionis testimonium et documentum.
Quamobrem cum Ornatissimus Tammo Jan Dijkema legibus academicis satisfecisset atque ad summos honores iam contenderet ipsius eruditioni debitos, Nos, quo causam honestissimam adiuvaremus, audivimus eum, cum dissertationem suam defenderet cui titulus: Adaptive tensor product wavelet methods for solving PDEs.

Reader greetings!

It is instututed by the wise counsel of our great men that students of the goodly arts, before applying their learning to the general use of life, should by their completed academic studies commendably seek public endorsement and proof of their industry and erudition. Wherefore, inasmuch as illustrous Tammo Jan Dijkema has complied with the academic regulations and is now contending for the highest honours worthy of his erudition, and that we might assist a most honourable cause, we have heard him defending his dissertation entitled: Adaptive tensor product wavelet methods for solving PDEs.

Seeing that in all these things he has shown himself capable of demonstrating to us his knowledge and diligence, we have conferred on him an honourable and well deserved proof of his virtue. Whereof, by the authority vested in us, we have created and proclaimed him Doctor in solemn fashion and have conferred on him the authority and honour which a legitimately created Doctor is entitled to have and receive as of right and by long established custom. So that the proofs thereof may be the more certain and tangible, we have ordained that this public diploma be handed to him signed by the Rector Magnificus and the Promotor and certified by the Great Seal of the University.

Geachte lezers,

Na wijs beraad is door de meerderheid van ons besloten, van de wetenschappelijke student, alvorens zijn thesis voor algemeen gebruik vrij te geven, nadat zijn academisch onderzoek prijzenswaardig voltooid is, van openbaar getuigenis en bewijs van zijn inspanning en zijn geleerdheid te verlangen.
Omdat de geachte Tammo Jan Dijkema aan de academische voorwaarden heeft voldaan en door zijn onderzoek de verplichtingen voor promotie heeft verricht, hebben wij, ter bevordering van de betamelijkheid, naar hem geluisterd, terwijl hij zijn dissertatie verdedigde met de titel:
Adaptive tensor product wavelet methods for the solution of PDEs.

Omdat hij zich hierin zodanig heeft betoond, dat hij ons zijn thesis en zijn zorgvuldigheid heeft aangetoond, hebben wij hem het eervol getuigschrift van zijn verdienste verleend dat hem toekomt. Daarom hebben wij, namens de staat aan ons gedelegeerd, hem tot gewoon Doctor benoemd en dit vastgelegd, en aan hem toegestaan al wat gebruikelijk is te mogen doen of hebben, aan recht en eer, door zijn rechtmatige benoeming tot Doctor, hetzij wettelijk hetzij uit traditie.
In vast vertrouwen over deze zaak, hebben wij ervoor gezorgd dit staatsdiploma, ondertekend door de Rector Magnificus en de promotor en gewaarmerkt door het grote zegel van de Universiteit, aan hem over te dragen.
